According to the Scottish History Timeline I found on the internet, It appears that our Johnstone ancestors did not like the Maxwells.
I have scoured the "Long Lost Cuzzins" book written by Elmo Johnson, and though there were over 100 other surnames which married into the Johnson family from Edmund Johnston's arrival here in America in 1639 until 1968, and not even one of the surnames was Maxwell.
Don't know how the Johnsons and Maxwells are getting along in the U.K., but hopefully, by now, we've buried the hatchet with the Maxwells here in the U.S.
